I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families! My husband, Zach, is from the mid-west, so we we traveled to Manhattan, Kansas to be with his family! It was a long car ride (14 hours!), but we were very thankful to be with family! We got to attend the KSU vs. ISU football game before we left to drive back home! We made a lot of great memories!
Last week, the students were so excited about our Thanksgiving Feast! Thank you all for your contributions and donations to our classroom! They loved it!
Our scholastic book order is taking a while to arrive. I have been tracking our box and it should be here within a day or two. I apologize to those of you who ordered books.....they are coming!! :)
This week we will be wrapping up Chapter 4 in GoMath and begin diving into Chapter 5, which is introducing basic addition facts to 5! In Wonders we are learning about the different sounds that we hear. Our sight word for the week is "and."
Report cards will be sent home on Friday. Please remember that our report cards are a "progress report." We are all emerging students in most of the areas of the report card. By the end of the school year, you will see more grades reflecting "nearing proficiency" and "proficient." We are still building a lot of background knowledge to many of the concepts and standards on the report card. On the math section, you will see numbers entered. Please remember that we are looking for mastery of number sense, which includes counting and representing numbers correctly each time they are assessed. Many students are still struggling with their teen numbers, which is why you will see a "10" in some areas. If they received a "20" in K.RCO and K.WN, this means that they have proven to master their numbers to 20. In K.VNS, you will see the number that they are able to count to by 1's. Our goal is to have them count to 100 and beyond by the end of the year! Please return the yellow envelop by next Tuesday! You can keep your copy of the report card.
Next week on Thursday is family fun night at Barnes and Noble! I will be reading to the kids at 4:00 in the back of the book store. I hope to see you and your families there! :)
