I hope you all had a Happy Easter and enjoyed the extra days off with your families! I'm not sure why last week's blog didn't post! So sorry about that! :) My family met at Georgetown Lake for the weekend and we enjoyed our last weekend of skiing, snowmobiling, and playing in the snow! My brother even got to join us from Walla Walla, WA....my heart was full getting to have everyone together!
Last week we spent our Wonders reading time reviewing and on The Three Little Pigs, and comparing and contrasting different versions of the book. We then completed another portion of Project Lead the Way and the students "built a house" out of "straw, sticks, or bricks." They were given the materials of toothpicks, popsicle sticks, sponges, glue, and modeling clay. They worked with a partner to create their structure. We will be putting their houses to the test to see if the "Big Bad Wolf" (fan) will blow their structures down! We have some amazing engineers in our classroom! Be sure to check out your child's picture on Seesaw of their structure! :)
We are starting Unit 8 in Wonders and our essential question for the week is "What can help you go from here to there?" Our sight words for the week are here and up. We are going to be wrapping up 2-D shapes in GoMath, then starting our 3-D shapes book!
Don't forget that we have NO SCHOOL on Monday. It is a teacher PIR work day, but students do not have to go to school! Then next Tuesday, we will be going to the Alberta Bair for our Henry and Mudge play! Hooray! :)
