Hello Kinder families!
I am SO happy to be back with your kiddos! It was a great first day, the students had A LOT to tell me! Emersyn Jo was born on September 12th, and she has lit up our lives more than we could have imagined! We are so in love! She is such a great baby, changing so much every day. She has started to giggle, roll, and really respond to everyone and everything around her. I'm sure you will be hearing lots of stories about Emersyn and our dog Cooper :) I will add some pictures now and then so you can see her and share with your kiddos...they've already been asking to see her more! Now that I'm back, make sure to check the blog weekly for important information and dates. I will update it weekly with things we are learning about and what you can talk with your student about at home too. I will update the pages on the blog with our curriculum and what we are working on! Christmas Program- Is next week. The kids will sing TWICE, at 8:45 and again at 10:00. They are the SAME so no need to come to both performances. I hope you are all able to make it. TUESDAY- is Barnes and Noble Night for Arrowhead from 4:00-8:00. Arrowhead teachers will be taking turns reading during that time, there are also fun activities and usually a couple treats! :) We will continue to work on our ABC bootcamp through break! This week we are working on the letters Mm, Nn, Oo, Pp, Qq. We are also continuing addition in GoMath, and working on lots of holiday fun! What a crazy busy week! Your kiddos have been busy learning the letters ABCD & E. They had to brainstorm words that began with those letters and write those words as well as draw pictures to go with the word. They have made headbands for each day as I'm sure you have seen! It has been a fun week in Mrs. Appel's class! At the end of each day we have taken a photo with our headbands on from each day. Monday we were in the shape of an apple for our apple headbands. For letters B, C, D, & E we just sat in the shapes of those letters! With next week being a short week (only Monday & Tuesday) If your kiddo would like to match their show & share to the letter of the day here are the 2 letters for next week. It has been so great to see and meet with parents for conferences! We really appreciate you taking the time to come in and meet with us! Some parents were asking about what sight words we have learned so far. Here is a picture of our sight words that we use in class so far!
Our class has buddies with Mrs. Eagle's 5th grade class every other Wednesday! Some of our kinders have siblings in her class! It is so exciting to see them interact with their older siblings! Today the kiddos got to roll a dice to create a pumpkin face. Their buddy or buddies also go to do this with them and then they got to color the pumpkins! Our class absolutely loves when they get to see their buddies.
We have been busy learning about our senses, tools, shapes and bugs for the past couple weeks! This week we have been learning how pumpkins grow with Halloween quickly approaching. Our high frequency site words that our class has been learning are,: I, can, the, we, see, a,, and like. Yesterday we did some interactive writing and formed sentences using our HFW.
I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend full of family and fun! :)
We had a great first few weeks of school! It has been so fun getting to know your child and getting into the routine of school. The students are starting to learn our school procedures and expectations, and working hard every day! Baby Appel is due to arrive on Monday, September 10th, but she could make her appearance any day now! We are ONE week away and cannot wait to meet her! Miss Bidleman, our long-term sub, has been in our classroom to observe and to get to know your kiddos before she starts! Everything is planned and ready for her to take over! I will miss these students so much, but I know they will be in great hands! On Thursday, we have Open House! This is for PARENTS ONLY, so please make other arrangements for your children if you can. We will have two- 30 minute sessions and I will be talking about the exact same thing so no need to come to both. The first session is from 6-6:30, then 6:30-7:00. It is from 6pm-7pm. Hope to see you all there to learn more about our classroom! In Tuesday folders this week, you will see our first "homework" calendar. These are fun activities for you to do with your child at home. Please help them complete the calendar, sign and return at the end of the month and your child will get to choose from our treasure box!
